Five Festive Things to Do with Your Girlfriends This Holiday Season

5 Festive Ideas for Spending the Holidays with Your Girlfriends

The holidays are here! This is my most favorite time of year! I love everything about this season, the decorations, the food, the hustle and bustle! I love playing Christmas music in my home and baking with my family! This is also a great time of year to get together with friends and celebrate friendship before the year is over. I enjoy spending intentional time with my girlfriends, I think as mamas we need a little escape every now and then with our friends!

Today I want to share with you some fun ideas for how you can make the holidays special and do some festive things with your girl friends.

 1. Paint ornaments at As You Wish Pottery.

I really love the idea of painting something on your own, how much fun would it be to gather a few friends and paint special ornaments together to place on your tree?! For a full list of Valley locations for As You Wish go here.

2. Host A Simple Holiday Dinner.

Set the table, plan a menu, have everyone bring a dish or dessert to share and gather around the table. Hosting a simple dinner for your friends can be really easy if everyone brings something. No pressure, just a fun time to get together and share some memories and laughter. Make it special by exchanging all the recipes you ate that night! Have each guest write down their recipe on cards to exchange at the party.

3. Host a Cookie Exchange Party.

Who doesn’t need more sweets in their life during this time of year! Hosting a cookie exchange party can be a really fun idea and a great way to try recipes maybe you haven’t before! There’s tons of ways you can do this, each guest brings 1-2 dozen cookies to be divided out at the party between guests. If you have more guests consider having each guest bring more than that. Have a hot cocoa bar with some of your yummy treats to make it extra special. Or you can register for the West Valley Moms Blog Cookie Exchange Party here.  This would also be a fun event to attend with your girl friends!

4. Christmas Ornament Exchange Party.

I love Christmas ornaments! A couple years ago we did this with the ladies at our church. Each of us brought a wrapped ornament to exchange at the party. We played a fun little game to decide who ended up with which ones, and if you wanted to when it was your turn you had the chance to “steal” one from another guest that had already opened one or choose a new one. Again this is just a really fun and cute way to gather your girlfriends. Everyone leaves the party with a new ornament for their tree.

5. Do a service project together.

This time of year I always like to keep my focus on what matters most. It’s not about gifts, food or any of that stuff, it’s about learning to give back to others that may not have anything. A chance to serve others, gather your girl friends and do a service project together. Feed people at a homeless shelter, buy and wrap gifts for kids in need or that may be in foster care. Have a clothing/coat drive for those that may need it. Donate canned goods and non perishable foods to a food bank. One of my favorite organizations is Sole Hope, which makes shoes for kids in Africa. They also provide medical help for those that have gotten jiggers in their feet. You can buy shoe cutting kits, gather your friends and cut shoes for people in need. Find more info here.

I hope these ideas have given you some fun things to do this holiday season with your friends! The most important thing is that it’s about spending time in friendship, it’s not about money spent or what you do. It’s about setting aside special time to let the ladies in your life know how much they mean to you this holiday season, and being thankful for friendship in our lives.

Have a happy holiday mamas!
