Father’s Day Gift – DIY Catch-All Dish

cute father's day dish

It’s my husband’s first Father’s Day and I wanted to make him something special that he could cherish forever but also is usable! I was browsing the aisles of Target one day when I saw a cute little hexagon ceramic plate. I thought to myself that would be perfect for all my husband’s pocket/wrist items! I don’t know about you, but my hubs likes to take his ring off along with his watch and empty his pockets every night! So I picked it up along with a couple of other things that I was shopping for because #targetislife!

Project Items:

  • Small ceramic dish
  • Paint marker
  • Daddy’s favorite colored paint
  • Acrylic sealer if using acrylic paint

Father's Day - DIY Gift

Did I forget to mention cute baby hands or feet????

Father's Day - Handmade Gift

Also, a paintbrush is optional. I’m in the midst of moving so I didn’t even try to dig through my boxes to find one. I used a paper towel instead. 😉

Father's Day - Cfrated Gift

The steps are simple. Coat baby’s foot or hand in paint.

Fight with baby to get a good looking print on the plate. Baby will get mad and you will need a wet paper towel to wipe off and retry again and again. :/

Great! You’ve managed to get a good print down.

Father's Day - Footprint Gift

Now, before you move to the next step, feed your child before they scream even louder!!!

Next, add name, year and either “Happy Father’s Day” or “First Father’s Day” on the plate!

Lastly, seal that footprint on there with your acrylic sealer so it doesn’t chip!

You’re all done!!!

I love how simple, sentimental & functional this project is. I hope my hubby loves it!!
