I considered myself so lucky to be hosted by The Strawberry Inn last May on a parent’s getaway! It was so nice and relaxing to have a mini getaway with my hubby. Imagine my excitement when they asked to have me back on a Girl’s Getaway this time! Read all about the adventures of three sisters below.
We recently got to have a hosted Girl’s Getaway at The Strawberry Inn and it was a trip we won’t soon forget! This Boutique Inn and charming town offer up a truly special time to visitors. I got to visit Strawberry, AZ for the second time in 2017, but this time with my twin sister (Heather) and sister-in-law (Kim) and we had such a memorable weekend.
From the start of our road trip it was an adventure *coughs we almost ran out of gas – my bad* all the way until the end when we went hiking down the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park – a natural wonder we were amazed by.
Wrapped up our girl’s trip at Tonto [Natural] Bridge National Park…my soul is full. – Kim
Adventuring in breathtaking northern Arizona was the perfect experience, of course, but doing it with some of my favorite gals made it THAT much better. We laughed until we cried, ate a whole lot/pretended to be Insta foodies, antique shopped, hit up tons of local spots, watched Rom-Coms/tween movie sagas, applied face masks and painted nails, drank wine/beers at the local brewery…ya know, all the MUSTS for an adult gals slumber party weekend away. LOL!
I was SO EXCITED to do Strawberry with my pine tree loving sisters! Like me, they just took it all in. – Rachel
Our first stop once we arrived in town was dinner at That Brewery Pub. We enjoyed THAT mac & cheese (bacon mac) and a Portobello Mushroom Sandwich and added a locally raised beef patty on it. It was perfection! I’ve enjoyed this local spot on both my Strawberry Inn trips….because HELLO it was worth the second visit with my gals. We called it a night after dinner and enjoyed some time in our modern farm-style room and watched a Twilight marathon, did face masks and painted our nails. ***Did you know that there are rooms with a pull out bed that is perfect for extra guests.*** After a road trip up north we were tired and wanted to be ready for our busy day exploring the town.
In the morning we made a beeline to The Randall House. The Salmon Scramble is my personal go-to with a Latte.
I also snagged a slice of the chocolate pie too snack on later – and it did not disappoint! More about the Randall House::
This house served as the ranch headquarters for cowboy rancher George Walter Randall and his brothers. George was the grandson of the original Pine pioneer family and maintained the Muleshoe X brand heritage brought from Utah in 1881. His wife, Mary Ellen was a Pine High School marm. She met George her first day in Pine and fell in love- with his horse, which he later gave her as an engagement gift. The couple completed the remodeling and adding rooms while raising their three sons, George, Robert and Fred. Mary Ellen’s favorite spot was in the sunporch where she could watch her horses.
During Mary Ellen and George’s time in this home, Pine residents formed a tradition of visiting daily when in town to get their mail. Baked apple pies, plum jams, peanut butter cookies and homemade bread were kept available and graciously served by Mary Ellen to all who visited. It was the place everyone went to visit over a cup of coffee. The grandchildren also stopped by before and after school for home-baked cookies. Mary Ellen had a knack for making everyone feel special. She would tell her unique stories and say, when people began to leave, “Oh, don’t go.” Keep reading […]
After our meal we decided to visit Pine Creek Canyon Lavender Farm which was just the cutest ever! They sell all kinds of lavender products including dried lavender bundles, lotion and more! They even have a Lovender Latte you can find at Common Grounds with lavender sugar fresh from the farm.
After the lavender farm we shopped until we dropped, took a joy ride and visited some of the local landmarks including the oldest school house in Arizona and the majestic Tonto Natural Bridge. For me personally this part of the trip was my favorite. Many of our stops along the the trip I had been to before but this experience was a first for me and it was such a site to see!
“Seriously loved my time away at The Strawberry Inn! It was the perfect setting for a girls trip filled with lots of laughs, bonding, and fun activities! It’s a trip I will never forget, and look forward to repeating!” – Heather
