I know there are lots of moms out there who know the unmistakeable elevator music of Minecraft. Kids all over the world have caught on to the craze! How can you turn that interest into something educational or even just a date night? We tried out Codakid in Scottsdale last weekend and it’s definitely worth telling you about!
They have individual classes or Friday night Code-a-thons where your kids can learn coding in Java using Minecraft! My boys had a GREAT time and asked to go back again as soon as we came to pick them up. It’s not often that happens since they are getting older!
Each kid can sit down in front of a computer and code, play and interact with their neighbors. They also offered water and popcorn to the kids (which my kids didn’t even eat because they were too busy having fun)!
It is in Old Town Scottsdale so a little bit of a drive for those of us in the West Valley but totally worth it for a Friday night date night. You can walk across the street and have an amazing dinner at one of my valley favorites Citizen Public House.
If you’re interested in the classes (we actually will be making the drive out there each week since the kids loved it so much), use code MINECRAFT for 20% off your first class. Also check out Groupon for Friday night deals.
Codakid is great for Minecraft lovers ages 6-14.
